If I become a co-signer on my dads account, what am I liable

My 87 yr old dad's bank just got closed down and he has to open a new account. I guess 25 years ago I signed on the account. He's asked me to re-sign. he's got a bunch of potential issues going against him and I don't thing co-signing makes sense.

I'm assuming they can go after co-signers for debt? Into my own personal account? Any idea if they can go after me based on previous co-signing?

And I still need to help him if he becomes sick, etc, etc. Any other way to be able to write checks or disburse funds for him without being a cosigner?

I sent a Debt Validation letter and did not get a response.

I have two letters that I sent and did not get a response. I have not been served with a summons yet, but I know one is coming. A complaint was filed in Civil Court last week. I plan on answering the summons and submitting it to the court and the attorney( who I think is the junk debt buyer). Would I submit copies of the letters and copies of the return receipts with my answer?

Repayment of parents debt

Few months back, my paternal aunt died. After her death, my uncle and her husband is the executor of the estate and since then he's been wondering how to pay off her $2500 credit card debt. Being a woman and a mother of two young adults she had a mobile home valued at about $15,000 and nothing else as assets attached to her name. Now, the question arises whether or not the children of the deceased parents are liable to pay back their debt? what if my cousins are hounded by the debt collectors for payments? Would appreciate you help and thank you.

Why I know how important credit repair can be

Hey everyone, considering that most people seem to know their stuff on this forum I decided to ask for some advice and I guess partly to vent as well. Perhaps you can help me with something that has been eating at me for a while.

I am not going to suggest that I am with one of the most financially prudent people in the world, but when I found out what their credit score was (they say they never really checked it, even with the free credit advertisements you see everywhere) I have finally found that I am with one of the many people with relatively poor credit.
