How to repair my bad credit

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 05/06/2010 - 05:35

I am currently living in a rented house with my partner, and am working full time in the same job for the last 4 years. I have bad credit due to defaults that occurred a few years ago. I am struggling to get any form of credit. My partner has 'fair' credit according to Equifax and TransUnion, although he is currently unemployed.

We are looking forward to buying a new car and so would want to know the best options. Is my partner likely to get credit without a long job history? Should we try a joint loan to boost chances?

Thanks.

What should I do about this

I had a payment arrangement set up with a credit card company. However, it came to an end recently, but wasn't able to renew it. Called the company for a month and could not reach anyone that could help. Finally when I was able to speak with someone all they could say was I needed to contact a debt consolidation agency to go on a program. I have sorted out arrangements with every other credit card company I deal with and each and every one of the other companies have been really nice. What I need to find out is can anything be done regarding this situation?

Parking violation dispute

My question is what does "last activity" really mean?

I'm being pursued for a debt of $50, but it is for a parking violation claimed by a parking operations company in Chicago. They sold the debt to a collector in Colorado. The violation occurred on 5/2/2007 at a specified parking lot. However, I wasn't in the city on that date, and have never parked in the parking lot they specified. It is unclear on just how they obtained my license plate.

Disputed medical accounts coming back

Last week I was going to get pre approval letter for a home loan when some accounts which I had previously disputed came back on my Credit Report under a new name. Last year there was about seven unknown medical accounts listed on my Credit report by a company in excess of over 5K. I did not know anything about the accounts and disputed the accounts with the Credit Bureaus, and the items were deleted. I filed a police report of this incident and was informed the accounts that were on my credit report they had no record of in there system. They have my social security number.

Unauthorized Withdrawal by Debt Collector

I was one month behind on a loan payment and was contacted by the collections department. I had set up a chain of automatic withdrawals from our personal checking account and assumed that the missed payment was scheduled for withdrawal. I spoke to the collections agent and shared my misunderstanding with her. I agreed to send a check for the past due amt., fee, and next payment before the due date. My husband owns a record label which is an LLC. His business account is with Capital One Bank which is the holder of the loan that is under both of our names.

Hello All,

I made the decision 3 years ago to quit my job and take care of my father who had a stroke after open heart surgery. Dad is well now!

I have depleted my 401K and next month will no longer have funds to pay my credit cards. I started a new job in Real Estate and will have my first closing in July/August.

is unauthorized withdrawal legal

A creditor called at home last month. I wasn't present at home, but my boyfriend was. The creditor spoke to him about my account though he is not a co-signer or joint owner. He was told to remind me that on 17/4/2010, $500.00 would be debited from my account. If there was a problem with this I may call back before that date. Mind you, I never, ever, authorized this withdrawal. Basically, the creditor manipulated the conversation as if I had previously authorized this. Anyhow, my boyfriend forgot about this and now $500 has been withdrawn from my account.
