Cash back rebate from credit card, question

Submitted by debtstinker on Wed, 11/07/2007 - 14:34

I put this question under this forum because I supposedly earned some cash back rebate from one of my credit cards. has anyone ever earned cash back from their cards and if so how long does it take to receive it? If I get a check (which i'm thinking in this case on my anniversary date it's a credit to my account) I would like to invest it in a checking account that ican open up locally that earns interest! this is the first i've heard of checking accounts that earn interest. i do know of savings that does that as well....i'm just wondering.

retirement planning

Hopefully this is the right forum for this question. I am hoping to get a new job very soon that offers retirement. We desparately need the money and so I'm wondering if anyone else out there has held off putting money in their retirement until your company matches? my old company waited until either the fiscal year started in July to start matching up to 7% or January of the following year. they did not offer to match any other times and it depended when you came in to the company. again this is a curiosity issue.

set your financial goals

What are your financial goals? Chances are you don't know. Even those who think that they do know seem not to be focused enough when it comes to achieving them.

The process of setting financial goals is not overly difficult, but it does mean you have to sit down and form a plan - something that is tiresome for a lot of people. The act of putting down the goals on paper, however, will go a long way to helping meet your personal financial dreams.

* Spend some time planning your income & expenditure
* Prepare or use a budget sheet
* Recognise what you might be worrying about, what you might overspend on, what your needs are, how your lifestyle affects your money etc. Dealing with money is very emotional!
* List essential expenditure at least once a month, maybe when your bank statement comes in.

budgeting in my new career

My question is about my future career and what is the best way to save and manage my finances. I joined the United States Navy to fulfill one of my childhood dreams. I understand that i will be making between 1300-1500 dollars base pay and this pay will increase on a yearly basis as well as my rank gets higher. This pay does not include housing/bills/food there will be separate incentives for those. Now whats the best way to plan for my future, my retirement, a future vehicle, and a future house. I plan to sign up for the GI bill to get money for college.

How to maintain a budget and save more money

I am having a hard time getting started with my new budget. I have restarted my budget three times because something is not right in my budget. The problem is my income does not match what my bank statement says. For instance

I have all my money already planned for my envelopes and then when I get my funds from the bank I have way to much money to distribute. Now I think it is because I have a bigger beginning balance so that money is just added.
