The best way to get rid of credit card debts

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Mon, 11/08/2010 - 09:47

The most effective way to get the most out of the negotiation process is to use a professional debt settlement company. These companies act as intermediaries and are able to deal directly with lenders on your behalf. The end result is that they make better deals and get you greater reductions in your overall debt.

First National Collection Bureau Potentially Illegal Letter

Greetings All,

When I have a real debt, I pay it. Simple as that.

Today I got a strange letter from the First National Collection Bureau in Sparks, NV.

Some bogus AT&T account. However, in the letter is says If I do not answer within 30 days they will assume that the debt is valid.

It says this exactly....

"Unless you notify this office within 30 days after receiving this notice that you dispute the validity of this debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume the debt is valid."

Needing some advice w/ charged off accounts

I have taken so many bad advice and didn't even realize there is such a website as this. and I am so thankful that I at least found this web now...

I was getting late on lots of my cc payments and my buddies told me to let it sit till it goes to collection and settle w/ half or less so I did.

On my credit report now, I have 7 charged off accounts that I still owe money to who (collection agencies) call me daily. 7 lates and delinquency too....

The debts aren't too big either... Maybe 10,000 all together...

What do you think is the best step for me?

Credit check by prospective employer - should applicant expl

Submitted by JimLane on Sat, 09/11/2010 - 22:24

A friend of mine is applying for a job (not involving handling money or financial responsibility). The employer credit check that she authorized will turn up debts written off in 1999, when she declared bankruptcy, and more recent credit-card defaults, including at least one judgment against her.

She's thinking she should email Human Resources and give brief explanations in advance, so they aren't unpleasantly surprised and they have her side of it. Is this advisable? If so, should she mention that she's contemplating another bankruptcy filing, or omit that?

What course to take

Hi all :)

Actually I know the answer to this but somehow I am reluctant to do it, so I thought I would ask here and see what people say, so that I might be actually convinced.

I have two unsecured Personal loans: $5600 owing at 12.95% interest (Repaying $150 per week) and $5100 owing at 14.55% interest (Repaying $100 per week)

My plan was to get $5000-$6000 savings and just keep it, and then pay off the lower interest loan with my extra income and then would pay off the next loan.

Reliable debt management service

Hi,

Someone please tell me what are some of the best and legit debt management services that can help me get rid of debt.

I shared a joint account (Car Loan 02/1/2010) with someone, but that person filed for bankruptcy. This affected my credit just by being on the account. I never knew that this would happen.
