Improve your credit score

Can a Small loan make your score worse??

Submitted by suburban86 on Sat, 03/27/2010 - 12:11

I have no credit debt except for my mortgage and $1,000 left on my car loan. I make 85,000 a year. My credit score is only 600 due to the fact that I got cancer a few years ago. I recently got approved for a $1,500 personal loan. I only did this to try and improve my credit score. When I used a credit simulator on another site it actually dropped it a few points??!! I thought this would eventually improve my credit, not hurt it. How am I going to improve my credit if I never get loans?

bank account levied

In NC can bank accounts be levied after a judgment? I have a credit card debt and I know that there is no wage garnishment for CC debt. I know this that accounts can be levied for taxes and child support but can they be for credit cards? Though there is no judgment against me as of now, I fear that I will get sued. What can I do? I don't have much money to make the payments.

Multiple/Duplicate Hard Inquiries

Submitted by TBova on Sat, 03/20/2010 - 03:42

Hello, I have a question regarding Hard Inquiries on my credit report. I have two sets of inquiries that show up in a set of two and a set of 3, one from a student loan I applied for, and one for when I bought my home about a year and a half ago. On my 3 in 1 report, they show for each CA. Is this normal? I am used to places checking only one CA, not all 3. For the student loan one, I was never approved and did not follow up with a co-signor, can I have that one removed?

Thanks!

Old Collection Account with New Date?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 03/11/2010 - 13:42

So I have an old collection account 4 - 5 years (Sprint Cell Phone). I know the SOL is almot up and rather then open a can of worms and just going to let it expire and life goes on.

Well, I just checekd my FICO score and pulled my CR and the date has changed to November of last year (2009)???

So I have 2 questions,

1. Is the SOL date from the 180 missed mark?

2. Can a collection agency just change the date?

3 low balance CC which ones to keep?

I have 3 CC both with a low balance and was wondering do I need all three?

2 with First Premier
(1) CC balance $250.00
(2) CC balance $300.00

1 with Orchard Bank
(1) CC balance $400.00

Should I keep all 3 and just charge a tank of gas each (45.00) because if I do something big it might effect my creditscore so I hear.
