How to clean up my credit report

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 06/15/2010 - 05:15

Hi I'm new.

I had a bankruptcy in 2008, a utility charge off in 2003 but nothing since. So far credit score is: TransUnion 688, Equifax 676

I have no current collections on my report, I've been very careful to pay all my bills on time. I don't have any revolving debt at this time. Its something I will consider in the future but considering I'm currently unemployed right now I may not be able to get a card anyway. The only thing I show on my report now is my current car note, and student loan. Both are current and no lates.

How to stop collection calls for others debts

Hi,

I have a rather common name and so every day, I come home from work to find several phone messages looking for people with similar sounding names, wanting to collect on a debt. This is rather disturbing, since my FICO score is above 800 and I have no outstanding debt. How can put an end to these phone calls? I hear that if I respond to them and give them my info that I am NOT the person they are seeking, they just harden their methods to collect the debt.

FICO scoring

I'm hoping someone can help me understand my FICO score.

On my recent Equifax report, it says there are three things hurting my FICO score:

1. "You have a public record and a serious delinquency on your credit report."
It goes off the books in 2 months.

2. "You have multiple accounts showing missed payments or derogatory descriptions."

On the helping your FICO score side: You've recently been paying your bills on time. Your most recent late payment happened 2 Years, 8 Months ago. Yea again.

3. "You have a short credit history."

Projected Credit Score Improvement?

My husband and I are looking to build a house next spring, but our credit scores are not good (mid 500s). All collections are paid and we are dealing with trying to get some deleted and such. We each have a student loan with lates in the past, now in good standing. Our current mortgage is in my name, also with some 30 day lates in the past, current as of 3 months ago. Two car loans, one with sporadic 30 day lates, current as of 3 months ago and now paid off; and the other with one 30 day late about six months ago and otherwise paid as agreed.

Credit = 100%?

I currently have a credit score in the low-500s. It's mostly because of one single account (Dell can be a-holes). I'm only 21, and the only other thing on my credit report is my student loan.

My Experian credit summary says that I have $0 available, but 100% of that $0. I must be missing something. I currently have no credit card, and my credit summary still has my old job from two years ago. How do I fix this?

I'm in a much better job now, but if it shows up as 7-11, I'm not going to get ANYTHING approved.

Should we send cease and desist letter

Hi,

A collection agency has been calling us and harassing us for a debtor who listed my husband as a reference (without my husband's permissions, of course). I guess this CA thinks we will tell the debtor "hey some CA is calling our house looking for you" which the CA must think will pressure the debtor into paying up. But we are not telling the debtor that the CA is even calling us. We don't want to give the CA that satisfaction. My husband never agreed to be a reference for this guy, so i don't know how they ended up with our name and phone number!

Can collectors seize my car

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 06/03/2010 - 05:00

Hi,

I have a ton of credit card debt. And I have a car which is worth a significant amount. Can the collectors of my credit card debt somehow seize my car? I heard that it's only possible if they sue me, win and get a court judgment. I also heard that even in that case they may not be able to seize the car because it may be "protected property". Can someone please clear this up for me? I'm a resident of California, so the applicable law would be California.

Thanks.

Settlement or validation

Hello,

On May 15 2010 I received a call from a collection agency. So I sent them a letter of my intents (registered certified mail sent May 17, 2010). The contents of the letter stating that I had received the call from them, and that I was making a settlement offer (original debt: 1533.79; settlement offer: $750), I did not in any way acknowledge or accept that the debt was mine and stated that according to the FDCPA i have the right to dispute the debt. I set them a deadline of 15 days to respond, and they responded within May 30 2010.
