Heritage

I got a collection letter from Heritage out of New Jersey, I have to say that they were one of the most pleasant collection agencies that I have dealt with. I am posting this because they do not fit the norm in a few different ways.

1. There professionalism and friendliness was not expected, they actually was very cooperative when I said that I could not do anything until the end of the month, no pushing me to make a payment today.

How much will a judgment lower my credit score ?

Submitted by fletch on Fri, 06/20/2008 - 15:00

I did a short sale and had a first and 2nd mortage. The first is 1099 me the diff. The 2nd only got 3k out of 75k and is saying they MAY take 1/2 on a payment plan. Just wondering if I didn't pay, how bad it would be. I live in Flrida so thet can't touch my primary or my pay check. If the send to a collection agency they will only get about 20% so I was thinking to offer them 30% or nothing. Comments ?

Lifelock

Has anyone ever used lifelock or a similar product? My husband sees that they are on the Nascar circuit now and he is questioning if they would be worth it. I think not, I think that you can keep an eye on your own stuff, but wanted to see what you guys thought about this company or one that does similar work?

Best way to pay off credit cards and increase credit score

Submitted by herbolaryo on Tue, 06/10/2008 - 02:57

1. Some say that it is will increase FICO score faster if you leave out a balance in your credit card payment :?:
2. Some say that if you pay in full immediately, FICO score won't be affected because you did not show a real history of credit history. :?:
3. Some say that you need to have a balance of 2-3 months before paying in full so that it will affect your credit score. :?:

Which one are true and which one are just myths?
Kindly give links to support the truth regarding credit cards

Anyone ever try a credit repair expert?

Submitted by HarmisonPaul on Mon, 06/02/2008 - 15:10

I’m looking to pump up my credit score from 640-to 700 to get a better interest rate on my mortgage. I’ve heard opening new credit card accounts can help (some say it could hurt) the score but i doubt that would be enough. I surfed the internet and read about credit repair experts that could help. Has anyone tried these guys? Do they really help and if they do how much can they help. The agency i talked to there name was Lexington, but not sure if they can help as much as they say they can.
Thanks for the advice

Payoff Discount Offer

Submitted by daveinchico on Thu, 02/21/2008 - 20:25

I had a telephone bill that was given to a collections company. The original amount was just under $600.

I have been given a payoff offer from the collections company for the amount of $272.

I'd be just happy to pay the lower amount of course. My question is: Would my credit score ultimately benefit by paying the original amount, or would that increase my 'sucker-score'?
