its www.annualcreditreport.com. A website created to give people access to their free credit reports once a year. You just go through it and it will take you through to the three major credit bureaus' websites to get you reports directly from them. It costs you nothing although you do have to watch out for all of the advertising to buy your credit score or credit monitoring services. Stay clear from these. If you ever get to a point where its asking you for a credit/debit card number than you know you did something wrong because annualcreditreport.com is absolutely free to use.
You may want to spread them out over a years time frame, since there are three, you could get one every four months, then you can monitior your report and see if things are getting fixed.
Thanks so much for the information and the welcome to the site. I hope to depart some of my experience and knowledge (maybe its lack of knowledge--LOL)
Yes, you are correct erb. Since one credit report is free from each of the three credit reporting agencies each year, you can order one at a time every four months. In this way you can keep track of your credit report and that too without spending any dollars.
I do this also, then I have the entire year covered, however they do not give a score, I wish they did that. I guess you can not have your cake and eat it too, so we will take the report. You can monitor changes anyway.
Hi goodnatured
There are a lot of online companies that offer free FICO scores during the trial period. However, you need to register for a service with them before getting the free score. You should always be careful while choosing the companies as you may fall into the prey of dishonest companies. This is because you need to give some confidential information to these companies like your ss number, and address to enable them to verify your identity. Some of the companies like Washington Mutual Bank offers free credit score through TransUnion if you have their ESPN credit card. MyFICO also offers free credit score through equifax during its 30 day trial period.
No unfortunately you have to pay for you score, but you can get your report for free. There is a fee for the score though.
So how do I go about getting a really free credit report. I probably have heard, but I can't seem to remember.
Thats my posting above as guest, i forgot to sign in.
Welcom Lorri!
