I would like to ask about my problem. I left US and have been out for the last a few years. and then came back. Oh, I am a foreign student. During my absence 3 collection agencies put colletion information on my credit record which are not related to me in fact. How can I correct these problems? Shoud I report to local police first and follow the steps which is described in the ID theft related government website? or May I send a correction (dispute) letter to the CAs that are appeared on my credit report to repair my credit? I was surprised when I saw the colletion agencie's records when I bought credit report online a few weeks ago for the first time. I want to make my credit repaired and clear. The other names listed on the credit reports are not mine. It must be done by another person.
Would you please give me any advice on this matter...
Thank you in advance....

You are right SKR...go ahead and dispute the incorrect information first. Contact a CRA and file a fraud alert. If you inform one credit bureau the rest will come to know. They will send you a mail within 15 days to inform that the fraud alert has been placed on your file. If this does not happen call the company directly to file the alert.
• Equifax: 1-800-685-1111; www.equifax.com
• Experian: 1-888-EXPERIAN (888-397-3742); www.experian.com
• TransUnion: 1-800-916-8800; www.transunion.com
This would restrict any more fraudulence for 90 days from the time you file the alert.
Good Luck.. :|
Thank you so much Laura~!
