We own nothing. If we stop paying our credit card bills can they take his pension away? I realize they can not freeze our social security, or my unemployment. but can the take his pension? However, I would not suggest you to stop paying because, not only will you get sued for that by the creditor, it will also ruin your credit report and as a result your score. I would rather suggest that you speak with your creditor and explain your situation to him. Tell him why it is difficult for you to pay him the money and ask him for a loan modification.
