I owe the Veterinary Hospital $1,500. The VH has not
reported to my bureau. I got a call friday from
the collection agency. This is the first call I
have received. They faxed me a payment agreement
and that's the first correspondence I have had
from them. In the past when I had a CA contact
me I immediately have mailed a full payment to
the OC and then when the CA called I told them
the OC was already paid and the CA never reported.
Should I try this again or pay the CA if they will
sign an agreement not to report? What about telling
the CA I'm disputing it? I hear that means they
can't report it while it's under dispute and the
OC will already have been paid.
"What about telling
the CA I'm disputing it?"
So they'll validate the debt.
"I hear that means they

It won't be in dispute once the OC forwards the CA's commission. The CA gets paid the same, whether or not you pay directly to them, or to the OC. Your payment date will be after the debt was sent to collections, so the possible entry on the credit report is accurate.
Verify that the CA is supposed to be collecting, then reach an agreement with them. It shouldn't be a problem at all if you can pay in full.
Thanks Morningstar. So, I have read on here that the CA CAN make an agreement with me to remove it from my bureau if they have posted it and/or agree not to report it. Correct?
Absolutely. Get them to agree to it, and get it in writing. Once you've got their letter stating no reporting/deletion, mail in your payment. If they violate the agreement, you can sue in civil court for breech of contract.
Thanks again. They faxed an agreement that said that nothing negative will be reported on my bureau as long as I pay. I'm asking them to fax an agreement that says the will DELETE any entry from them including their name on my credit report. They will delete their "trade-line" is that the correct way to term it?
That is correct.
