I know that when my wife applied for her first credit card she had very bad credit and Capital One approved her for a $3000 limit! Can you believe that. I don't know if the same will apply to you but you might want to try. I know they charge pretty high interest rates but it they have no monthly, annual, or set up fees.
Wow, that is wayyyyyyyyy tooooo high for me, even with my credit, I would not pay that amount. I guess you could get the card and just charge little things that you could pay off very quickly. then you would not be paying the rate.
I had a few CC's that were for 'bad credit'. BOTH were a $300.00 limit. I had to miss payments, with both, for a few months. GOSH...the 'overlimit fee' and 'late fees' added up to almost $150.00 PER CARD!! MY goodness! i was hoping to improve my credit' with one of these cards. Gosh.now I'm trying to just to 'catch up' on ONE of them. The Cap One card?.....yep, the fees, etc. would be TOO high for me, too.
Who did you have yours with sdchargers, curious, I have been wanting to get one, but really tired of the shopping for one and reading all the crap that goes along with it.
This bank is a great way to improve your credit, It will grow with you and after 9-12 months they will unsecure the card, and refund your original deposit. And also should receive an increase also. there is a pre-approval link on their website you can see what offers they have for you. It is a soft pull. GOOD LUCK! better option than like First Premier, and other subprime cards that will NOT grow with you.
GOODNATURED..my CC's were from Orchard Bank and Imagine. BOTH seem to 'work with you' until you have some problems ( it seems like, anyway). There is SOO much %, on them, it's crazy. Orchard 'offered' a payment arrangement. Get this.................!1 " I can pay $100.00 now and $100.00 by May 15th to bring my card up to date." If I HAD that money right now, I would pay them!! Still trying to work things out with them, and the other one.
LAURA..on HSBC card the balance is $430.00. My credit limit, on the card is $300.00. The Imagine card, the balance is $400.00. My credit, on THAT one is ALSO $300.00. It just seems like when I DO send payments, the companies are ALREADY applying late fees, etc. and it doesn't even LOOK like I 'touched' the surface, of the debts....if that makes any sense.
Sd. I know what it is like to get caught in this endless trap and really feel for you. Back when I got behind (7 years ago) companies refused to work with you. Can you call them and explain the situation and maybe they can increase th limits on your card so that you don't fall behind. Let them know that you do not want to let the card go unpaid but just can not continue on this route...explain your health problems...try anything...I had a friend who did this after a lenghthy illness and this is what the company did for him.
I dont think it is possible to get a card with a 2000 limit with bad credit. If it is please send me the link to the card too. Best I could find was orchard with a 300 limit, salute card with a 450 dollar limit. These are not cards you should actually use though. Just for real small purchases. Never utilize more that 30% of your credit. They will get you for overdraft fees everytime.
It is in fact very difficult to get a high credit limit with a bad credit score now because of the recent US slowdown due to subprime lending. Moreover, this subprime lending has led to several bankruptcies in US, the recent example is the bankruptcy of the Lehman brothers. So I think that if you have a very low credit score and you want to improve it, go for secured credit cards. But if you want a high credit limit, the only way you can get it is to take advances from your employer or your friends.
FIREYONE, thanks for the advice. I've tried calling BOTH companies. According to Imagine, they say they no longer have my account. I've gotten letters, from CA's, about both cards. With ONE of them..( I think it was Orchard..) they were asking for a settlement amount. Should I take it? Doesn't settlements look bad on your CR? I guess it really wouldn't matter...my credit is already bad ( but..improving just the same.)
SD I know you are from PA. The sol here is four years. Is this debt at least four years old? When was the last payment that you made on it? If it isn't past the SOL and since the original creditor doesn't own the debt anymore you need to ask for debt validation. If they can not validate then you will not have to pay. If the original creditor already sold this debt then they more than likely already written it off and is done with it..which means they more than likely will not sue or help the debt collector validate. Gte me this info..I have been on alot lately and hopefully will see this post again.
Hi Brenda,
There are cards that might be of help to you. I am sending some information through private message. Hope that helps.
