Welp, Im being sued by Discover card. I was very upset, but can't say im surprised. This all started 2 yrs ago when hubby made good money, paid all bills and then wham, he started having problems with his health. I still don't know whats wrong with him but he is experiencing vertigo which is a common illness. the cause and other symptoms unknown. He couldnt drive anymore, which means no work either. I was working a bit at the time and struggled for food water electric house pmt. This all happened at christmas. I have been struggling the last 2 yrs with the bills. My husband has found odd and end jobs off and on. He continues to have trouble driving. He even opened a home based car garage and we are able to pay the bills easier. I am due to appear in court next week. I feel like i need an attorney,but really cant afford it. The last time i was sent to court over a dog ticket they made us pay the fine, no one cared it wasnt even my dog. Im tired of getting the shaft. I have alot of debt with other creditors and fear them sueing me as well. any good advice by someone who has been in this situation. I also was told to get my taxes together of how much we made before and after my husbands illness.

Answer the summons and show up to court, you don't want to give them a default judgement. If your H isn't working, might you qualify for legal aid? If not, perhaps you can look for a good paralegal to help you out (they can't rep you in the court, but they can do research and fill out forms...). You can always look for an attorney on naca.net.
If he can't work, has he filed for SSDI?
