Judgment for Taxes

I have a satisfied judgment listed on my credit report. Today I went to the county clerk's office and was told I could motion to have it vacated. I am going to take a chance and I filed the papers.

If it is removed, how much of an impact would that have on my credit score and how long would it be for me to see that impact?

If the removal of a satisfied judgment will raise your score, then the effect would be immediate. The amount it would rise would depend on how old it is; an older derogatory will not affect your score as much as a recent one.

Morning star is correct in this regard.

My advice would be to look up the state's rules of civil procedure. Check this for more information http://www.law.cornell.edu/topics/state_statutes.html

Once you filed the papers the court will notify the plaintiff. Make sure that the notice is served by the court or by you or a third party professional that you might want to hire for the job.. This is crucial for winning.
