Hi all, Yesterday when I was searching in google for a good pay for delete template letter that I need to send to Capital one I found this bcrconsulting.us, I don't know if it is too good to be true. My question... Anybody have any experience with them? I checked with the BBB and they have no records, Alexa has them only since December 2008, no records also in ripoff.com and planetfeedback.com.
I've been working in my credit or the las 3 months now, almost got it but this people at capital one is driving me nuts, I wouldn't mind to pay somebody to deal with them but I've been told that most credit repair companies are scams, they take your money and do nothing for you,
this ones don't want any money until the account is gone.... Where is the catch?
Please any comments
Thanks
Nick
You really do have to be careful when chosing a credit repair company. Not all are scams but since debt has become so massive it is a huge profitable business. I would be a bit wary that the Better Business Bureau does not have a listing for them. If it were me I would want to deal with a company that had a good record. How old is this debt and is it Capitol One that is trying to collect? If it is the original creditor you have to make sure you get the pay for delete in writing BEFORE paying them any money so that they hold up their end of the bargain once you pay.
Anybody knows this guys?
Thanks fireyone, The problem with capital one is that they have all kind of records you can imagine, cc aplication, statements... everything. It was a $900 credit card in 2003, when I left the country for Europe (Got a good job in holand) it had a balance of 500, making payments on a US credit card from Europe is hard and expesive, the banking system is different and they charge big fees for wire transfers so I decided to leave it alone and deal with it at my return a couple of years latter. It tuck me 5 years to come back and now they are asking for $4000 and they will not delete the acount even if I let them rip me off.
I've been dealing with them for three months now and I'll tell ya, I've got enough, I'm just looking for some effective and honest people to harass them for a change, what it seems to be different about this people is their promisse of no money down, they say in their web site that only after they get an account deleted they will send you a bill for $50 a piece, I can't see how this can be a scam and I guess if they ony get pay for results somehow they have to be effective or run out of business.
What state did you take out this credit card in and when was the last payment you made on it from Europe? I am wondering if you are protected by the SOL's in your state. It sounds as if capitol one still owns your debt. If so are they willing at all to settle this debt for less? Soemtimes to avoid court they will reach and agreement with you to resolve this problem.
If they are harassing you then you should report them to your states attorney generals office. The Atty general will call them and sometimes after a call like that they are even more willing to settle. I would give that a try. As for the repair company I can not give you an honest opinion because I have never dealt with them. Sorry.
Hi Nick
It is very difficult to identify which credit repair companies are scams and which are not. Even if you go through the FTC website, you will find that they even recommend to repair your own credit. If you cannot make the creditor agree to pay for deletion or cannot come to a proper repayment agreement with them, it would not be possible even for credit repair companies to device a proper debt repayment plan for you. Credit repair process may take a year or so and so you have to be patient if you want to repair your credit.
As per the fair credit reporting act, you cannot force the creditor or the collection agency to remove a negative listing from your credit report even if you pay off the debt in full with interest and late charges. Pay for deletion is an option only if the creditor agree to it. It will stay in your credit report for seven years and six months from the date you became delinquent.
Thanks every one
The SOL in my state is 4 years for open end accounts, no worries there, it is less than two years more for he account to drop off. I just suspended my home phone service yesterday and signed up with those people it is the only negative in my reports so if the can do something about the 3 reports it will be only 150. Sure I'm not going to pay 4 Ks to those crooks, forget it. I hope they start to call my Cell phone then we gonna have a problem, just waiting for their mistake, I'm so sick of hem.
bcr consulting
I have been researching BCR for a several days now because I had the same concerns you have. Not enough info, no BBB records. They are a new company, so there is not enough history. I found the first mention of them in a Baton Rouge paper I think it was Dec. '08, and some PR on them Feb 8 and Feb 22 '09. Main address in Plaquemin, LA, but operating out of Las Vegas, NV. So you can check the BBBs. I have read their contract and it doesn't lock you into any payment plan and you can cancel any time. No upfront cost, so not much risk. I am satisfied and I am going with them. Seems like a new business plan. About time.
Hi Sue,
Just be a little careful about the credit repair companies. Without any BBB records it might be risky. Anyway, if you have decided to go with them, then wish you luck.
Let me know if the company could be of any help.
Update
Thank you all for your comments, Its been almost 7 months, but....
I'VE GOT'EM :) Capital One GOOD BYE, well... 2 out of 3
The account is gone on Equifax and Experian, remains on Transunion but I was able to put a security freeze on that bureau for $10 so nobody can see it without my consent, it will drop by itself in May 2010, 7 and a half years from my first missed payment.
They did it, it tuck them months but they finally did it. Over the past months I've been getting correspondence from the BBB, Attorneys general from 3 different states , comptroller of the currency... until I finally got a letter from Equifax (Not the usual investigation results, it was a ink signed letter) saying that the account was deleted and blocked, no explanation of why and a couple of months later I've got a regular investigation results from Experian showing the account deleted.
When I contacted this guys they told me that they won't be able to get it off of Transunion so I just blocked it. I've got my new truck a couple of months ago, 6.5% APR using Equifax report
My review....
Pros
- No money until they do something good for you
- They know what they are doing
- Cheap, for me at least, I only paid $100 total, I guess if you have 20 accounts it would be another story
Cons
- I tuck almost 5 months to get the first deletion, it was a hard one though.
- Its hard to get someone on the phone but they usually answer emails within 24 hours.
- I had to scan and email them every single piece of credit related correspondence I've got over the last few months, more than 100 sheets of paper including credit reports.
Over all they need to work on the client assistance issue, at first I was about to drop them when I couldn't talk to anyone but at the end they did the job, tuck longer than I was expecting though. They are honest, no catch, which for me is the most important thing.
