I received a call this morning from a guy who appeared to be from India, saying the police would be at my home to arrest me from defaulting on internet payday loans...I am in Philadelphia PA, and while I'm pretty sure the police part is not valid, I do want to get caught up on these debts or at least try to make a reasonable payment plan....does anyone have any advice on this? Also how can I find out which of the lenders I owe is legal to lend in PA?
well
for one no lender is legal in PA.two the guy is a scammer in INDIA.ignore future calls, and report this idiot to your local police.again no lender is legal, and report and ignore any calls as they will be lawbreaking scams like this.don't worry about paying them as they siold the debt which is non-enforcable,and non-coolectable.so again any threat of arrest treat as an illegal act.
Payday lending is prohibited in PA. All lenders in this state are illegal. They are scammers mate and are trying to scare you. Debts are civil case, not a criminal offense. So you can never get arrested for nonpayment of debt. File a complaint against them to the SAG or FTC immediately.
Don't worry about these debts as they're illegal. Just ask them to bug off and if they don't, you may report this to the SAG or the FTC.
