Situation - Original Debtor charged off the balance due - reported as a charge off to the Bureuas - this Debt is sold or transferred to an Attorney Collection Company - they also report the debt now as a negative tradeline - this is in the state of california - what are laws regarding how many times the same debt can be reported on credit report as it is passed on or resold from one CA to another - it seems abusive and extremely punitive to be able to report the same info twice.
I.E. - If a debt is sold or passed on from the original creditor then from one collection company to another - can each of them report the negative acct separately - is there a limitation on the number of times for the same debt.
Reporting of Negative Info to the Credit Bureuas
Welcome to the forums!!!
No, there is no limitation. Each collection agency to whom the account has been assigned or sold can be report the same negative account separately.
