Hi,
I'm hoping to find some advice please?
I have about 12k debt all accumulated when I was married and my wife was off ill for a number of years. The debts are in my name and due to the marriage ending because of aggression I never argued over who would take responsibility for them - I just wanted out as quickly and easily as possible.
I am now living with a new partner who has a mortgage. Myself and my two children have moved in and our money is pretty much separate. I work full time. I pay for the food and then pay forty pounds a week to my partner towards bills. I pay my half of the council tax too. I won't be getting my name on the mortgage at any time and have no interest in it.
I have been looking at getting a Debt Relief Order but cannot find any information & not any good company nearby frisco, texas. I don't wish to join our income and I don't feel my debts from my marriage should be paid for by him. Taking into account what I am paying out (childcare, work travelling, childrens expenses etc) I would probably qualify but with his income counted I wouldn't.
Any idea where I would stand? Is there any possibility of staying with him yet having our income counted as separate?
Thanks in advance
Angel Jose

I think you should contact with your creditors and try to set up a payment arrangement with them. If you want, you may try to get help from a professional debt relief company. But to save your money, you may do it yourself.
Why pay for something that you can do yourself. Negotiate for a better repayment terms by sending them a heartrending financial hardship letter.
Apart from that, cut down on excessive use of credit cards. Create a practical budget and stick to that. Identify the sources to where your money goes and do away with any that is unnecessary. This will help you to free up a lot of extra cash at the end of each month to make the debt payments.
