A charge-off account will remain in your credit report for 7 years and it'll show as delinquent for 7 1/2 years. You need to contact the original creditor and inform him about this negative item on your credit report. You need to ask him politely to report the account as paid in full to the credit bureaus in order to drop the charge off account from credit report.
