Hard Inquiry in Wrong Name and Address

I have a hard inquiry that popped up on my Credit Report in the last few weeks from Bill Me Later (Affiliated with Pay Pal). It is listed under someone with the same first name and a different last name and the address is incorrect.

I called TransUnion (I found out via CreditKarma) and they said to send a letter to the creditor. Should I just draft an "Unauthorized Credit Inquiry" letter and include the incorrect info that is listed on my Credit Report or should I try to call Bill Me Later first?

Also, do I need to actually request a report from the other two bureaus just to be sure nothing else is on there since Credit Karma only pulls from TransUnion? If it shows up as well there I will have to send letters to all 3 requesting removal once I prove it is an unauthorized inquiry, correct?

Also, when I send the letter should I use the address listed on the Credit report? I saw 3 different addresses online for Bill Me Later.

Thanks in advance!

Dispute it with the credit bureaus to remove inaccurate information from your credit report. At first they will investigate this matter and take necessary action accordingly.

It is better and simpler for you to directly dispute this with the credit bureaus. You know that this is an unauthorized hard inquiry and that too listed under another person name. Therefore, it is better to dispute this immediately with your credit bureaus.

One more question... so I got the original credit report from TransUnion... Do I have to get one from the other two as well and try to dispute with all three companies? Also, when I called TransUnion they said I had to dispute it with the creditor. I don't think I said it was the inquiry was in the wrong name though..... I assuming that would make a difference?

Yeah….it would be better for you to dispute with all the 3 credit bureaus. I hope they will take necessary steps to solve your problem.
