Do I have to send the validation letter certified mail?

I sent out validation letters but not certified mail. Do I need to re-do this and send them cerified mail. A lot of them are PO Box which post office will not send to due to someone needing to sign for the letter. It's been over the 30 days and I haven't heard back from 3 of them. Now I'am ready to send the follow up letter. Do I need to send that certified mail?
Thanks

It is better to send the follow-up letter via certified mail with return receipt requested. It will help you know if they have received your letter.

Thanks for the information... What do I do if the address provided for the follow up letter is a Po Box? Post office won't send to these a certified letter. Also, I have a collection on report that is stating that the account was open in 2012 in fact it was opened in 2007. Isn't that against the law? I live in Colorado and trying to figure all this SOL out to clean up my credit. Any help is apperciated.
