I have 3 collection accounts on my report. I want to know if I pay them off will they stay on my report as $0 balance or will it be like they were never there?

Negative items will remain on your credit report for 7 years from the date of your first default. If you pay them off, your account status will be updated as “Paid-in-fullâ€. But it will be removed from your credit report after 7 years.
What about if you have a debt that was never paid or settled? Does that still come off after 7 years? or is that just wishful thinking? The amount of that debt is now no where near a manageable amount to payoff at this point. I would like to buy a home one day and wouldn't ever be able to with some of these old items on my report.
