I have a collections on my account that I am not sure is mine. It is 5 years old, I have never received any bills. The name of the original collector (medical) I have not heard of. If I request a copy of the original invoice from the CA does that change the activity date?

No,..it doesn't change the activity date. It should say on your CR who the original creditor is (hospital, doctors office, etc). You said you never heard of the original creditor. Usually, on your CR, you will see a phone number of the original creditor and the CA. I would try and call the original creditor and see what you come up with.

I think it would be better for you to ask the CA to validate the debt in writing via certified mail with a return receipt request. If they don’t give any reply, then forward them a Cease and Desist letter.
