40 yrs of perfect credit until 3 years ago much sadness, husband disability, I lost my job of 15 years, 2 of our children died unexpectedly ,sister terminal cancer had to help her..Short-sold our home..moved to a furnish rental..Receiving early S.S. and husband's S.S. and $200.00 pension, barely makes the bills. No Health insurance for me, just kinda fell all apart in our retirement years. Owe credit cards and medical..they seemed to have charged off but Capital one is large 27,000.00. They want me in court in Feb. I have kept them informed and the court all along..Sorry can't pay, but they are proceeding. I understand by all above that they can't touch our S.S but I have a little job making approx $600.00 per month. Can they take that or call employer to garnish? Where do I turn for some free legal advise? Thanks so much

We are retired and get SS and have a little part time job approx $1000 per month to make ends meet.
The $1000 is made out to our S corporation can that money be attached if a credit card company has a judgement against me?
Are funds in a corporation exempt from personal judgments?
Thanks so much for your help

They told be no problem they were doing it for my good credit, the conversation was recorded, now after years of aggravation they are threatening me with garnishment of my S.S., that is all that I have to live on, I own nothing and am going to be 80 years old, can they do that?

We have over $10,000 in credit card debt due to my having cancer a couple of years ago. I had to quit work because of treatments and my husband is retired. We both get social security and are attempting to pay our bills but they amount to more than we bring in. What is our best option?

I just received a summons for a credit card. I live off of my VA pension and my SSI. I've read that they can't garnish my pension but can they take away my vehicle which is in my name to pay off the debt? The car is fully paid off and really the only thing we own outright. My other question is my wife's checks also go into the same account. Do I need to have her set up a different account to make sure that her money isn't touched since it's a joint account and once it's in the account it can be considered mine as well?

Do I need to go to the hearing, which is March 5, 2013. I dont dispute the debt, I just am unable to pay it. I am barely getting by. I am afraid to go to the hearing, because I dont know what to expect.

Can I file bankruptcy if I only owe around $14,000-15,000. I was served by court last week and I don't know what to do. I have been out from work for a medical leave and now I don't know if I should go back to work if my wages are going to be garnish. I don't own anything, everything is under my husband's name. what happens after the court gives a judgement and I only work 16-24 hours? Is all the paycheck garnish or just a % of it?

My credit card company is suing me for $2,000 because of their claim to late fees...I tried to change my date to send payment as I had recently retired over 2 years ago because of social security payment date. I pleaded with them about it to no avail...the late fees of $35 kept coming even though I made payments. I own a small used trailer, have health issues, cancer survivor, diabetic as well. What am I to do...can't afford an attorney....need advice...
