I had a company recently garnish my checking account, but they did not get all the money (thankfully had withdrawn some out for gas, food, etc) and I cannot afford for them to get another go at it again but with my new hours at my job I no longer have the time to pay bills or garnishments in person.I'am afraid to deposit money in my checking so I can pay bills online, for fear of a repeat of what just happened but unsure what to do. I have been making payments on multiple garnishments but they all seem to want more money.
I live in KS and have heard that garnishments can be done on a bank account even if you have made arrangements and are paying them each month and on time? I have recently purchased a Reloadable Prepaid Visa card from Walmart. I had it activated and another card sent to me with my name on it. I have yet to put money on it because my concern is that they will be able to garnish that as well.
Does anyone have any ideas if that would happen? How quick they can take money from your card if you reload it with money? Any help anyone can give me would be great as the only other real answer I found on the internet was someone saying that unless you set up automatic deposit on the reloadable card, there is nothing to link it to you & you can register it to off information so it can't be linked to you.

As for your question whether or not it will get linked to you without the automatic update depends on the company itself.
As for your second question, whether or not they will be able to garnish the card depends on the money you've put into the card. One more thing is that if you get into negotiations with the creditor they will not garnish your account anymore.
You should contact the creditor and make pay arrangements otherwise your accounts may get frozen. As a result you will have no access to your account and it will turned over to the creditor. This can happen to any of your cards, may it be a visa prepaid card or checking account.
