I have a big credit card debt spread over several companies. Haven't paid anything to them in three years. They have about run me crazy calling but I never answer the phone. Hoping they will give up. The debts have gone thru several different collection/lawyers, don't the collectors have to provide original debt papers?I have no job and my husband is retired and on social security. We own our house but have nothing else. what can they do?
what is the length of time creditors have to sue in Oklahoma
They can file a lawsuit against you because of non-payment of debt. Once the court issues an order against you, they can place a lien on your property. But they can’t garnish your husband’s social security benefit, as this is exempted from garnishment.
if they put a lein on the property, then what can they do?
