Hi, I'm new here! About a year ago a private student loan from Bank A was sent to a collection CA, Company B. I made a balloon payment with them and set up a payment plan that I've paid on time for a year. Now I've gotten a letter from a different collection agency, Company C, trying to collect the remainder of the debt. The original lender is still listed as the the creditor and I'm instructed to make payments to them.
My questions:
Did the original CA (Company B) sell this debt or did the creditor/lender (Bank A) reassign it? It seems fishy that I would go from paying the CA (Company B), to directly paying the creditor again?
If it was Bank A, is there a chance that they didn't sell the loan and can I ask them to pull it back? The payments I made to Company B were more than double the original payments I missed, plus they'd get back the interest. I'm successfully and securely employed and I'd like to get out of this, as they already destroyed my credit.
Any help or information would be so appreciated.
Did a CA sell my debt to a second CA??
Your situation is very complicated. It would be better for you to consult with an attorney and take advice from him/her.
