HSBC, the origional creditor, states that this account has been purchased or sold to 4 seperate collection agencies within a 4-5 month period. I continue to dispute the account witch HSBC is reporting, but they dont validate it and have sent 4 letters in response stating it was sold or purchased everytime to a different collection agency. I have all the letters. In fact the first collection agency, IDT Carmel that they say it was sold to, is now reported on my credit report as the origional creditor being IDT/HSBC. Are they one in the same? I beginning to think everyone connected. What rights do I have when I would think its not legal for the Origional creditor to sell the same account to different agencies. Sounds like purposeful documented fraud to me. Perhaps they believe I wouldn't be keeping every letter I get??? What do I do now. How do I get it to stop and off my credit report. When I file a dispute with experian, they say each time that it has been verified. How can this be when none of them give me one bit of information to validate this debt. The last validated letter I recieved from the most recent collector says in the letter that the origional creditor was HSBC. Thats the validation they give, nothing else, except they the actual amount owed may have changed due to fees, etc. I have sent validation requests to each one of the 4 agencies and none give me anything to validate the account. The account just gets resold to another collection agency. Its my belief from the letters I have recieved that HSBC hasn't sold the account at all, because whenever I request a validation from any collection agency in referance to this account, the next thing I find out is the a new collection agency has either purchased it or its been sold and the date given on the report keeps getting longer and longer as to how long it will remain on my credit report. I believe HSBC continues to control this account and this is a way of reaging it. When I sent a second request of debt validation to the last agency on my report, I never recieved anything back. They just ignored it. So now what??
All this on an account that I don't believe is mine with an origional balance of charge off from HSBC of 259.00 dollars. Oh, I might add that they also reported on another report that the oriongiona charge off owas 698.00. I have all the credit reports. Unbelieveable. Am I at a point of which I can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney Generals Office. Experian just keeps verifing the information from each collection agency without obtaining anything. I think Experian is not doing their job and is in violation of unfair reporting practices. How can they continue to verify information when every letter I get gives nothing to validate anything? The response I get when I ask how did you get your information, is only that the information has been verified????????? Exactly what can I do at this point. I'm ready to sue if I have to and believe I have enough documented proof to prove violations and seek damages.
All advise is greatly appreciated. Please help. Thank you.

Hi iflex2fitness
First of all let me ask you is the debt yours? If not you could first send a "cease and desist letter " and be firm in your wording of the letter. Let them know that the account they are following up is not yours.
You could dispute this debt with the credit bureaus if it is falsely represented on your report. You can challenge the accuracy of what is reported. After you challenge the report, it is the duty of the credit bureau to get in touch with the creditor and request verification. Any information that cannot be verified must be deleted from the files.
Moreover if you are seeking validation, there are more documents they need to provide than just the statement or letter stating that they now own the debt. Don't give in to this, be firm with them and let them validate the debt.
A debt collector cannot lie to you according to FDCP (Fair Debt Collection Practices) rules. They cannot be deceitful when trying to collect debt from you.
factoring money account
myfico.com credit report shows this account now reporting as a factoring company account. what is this?
Hi guest
IS this post and the one written in the following thread by the same person? You would find your answer here in the thread mentioned below

Iflex, if this debt is your it will continue to be sold for years and years. My guess is it is near or past the SOL and they keep selling it everytime they see you ask for validation. It also appears that they may not have the proper validation to show they legally own this debt or that it is yours. Sometimes when debt collectors purchase debt they will purchase it in bulk...say a bunch of old debts for a few bucks (like going to an auction). They usually do not get all the proper paperwork and this is why they sell it after trying to collect on it for a while. Expect this for years to come.
If it is yours you will continue to have to send validation letters. Now only two people can report on your credit record for the same debt (from my understanding) that is the original creditor and the most RECENT collector..not every collection agency that has ever tried to c ollect the debt.
debt
i recieved a debt, that i know i have no debt owed and believe it is not mine so should i ignore this or write back to them this is not my debt, actually i got a several phone calls an agency asking for a spanish named person that i kept saying you have the wrong number and then i get a debt in the mail addressed in my name but a different apartment number not my unit. i just want to know should i tell them this is not my bill

There is a 'sticky' under the Credit Repair forum about writing a cease & desist letter to the creditor. Did you say you did not owe the debt? The cease & desist letter will show you step by step how to approach this. Remember...always keep documentation and copies of what you do. You may want to send the letter 'certified mail' to make sure you know they received it. Also..(just a suggestion) have you looked on your crefit report to see if the debt is there?
