Hello,
I recently pulled up my credit report and as I was reading through it, I noticed "the date of first delinquency and the date opened" of a collections account didn't match up. It reported the DOFD as 6/2007 however the date opened for the account was 9/2009. Besides that, the original account (Citibank) the collections agency bought from, stated that I was making payments on time from 8/06-9/07, then I defaulted starting 10/07 which later they charged off. So I'm scratching my head as to what's happening. Any help and input would be much appreciated! Thanks.
See, the date of first delinquency is the date when you missed a payment on your credit card for the first time. On the other hand your date of last activity is usually the charge off date. CAs will often record this date of last activity as the date when they obtained the ownership of debt. We have to be very clear about these dates.
