Christmas Budget

Submitted by goodnatured on Mon, 11/05/2007 - 00:58

With the holidays coming I thought it would be a good idea to discuss how we budget for the holidays so that we don't over extend ourselves. I am asking that you add your suggestions of things that you do to make it through the holidays and not be finacially strapped because you over did it. It is one time a year, many people go overboard and pay for it all year long. Here is a list of things that I do.

1. I start the day after and get the sales on wrapping paper, cards and little things that end up costing alot the following year.
2. Recycle gift bags from the year before, this will save you money and you are doing something good for the environment.
3. I shop online when there is free shipping and sales included, this way I don't have to deal with the stress of store shopping and it is delivered right to the house, I save on gas and headaches.
4. Regifting, sometimes if I get something for a birthday or holiday and it isn't necessarily something I will use, I don't take it back, I put it in the closet and regift it to some one else, becareful not to regift to the person that you got it from. I will do this with household appliances, I have a really good blender but got another one for my birthday, I have no use for two, but my sister needed one, guess what she got for christmas. (This isn't being cheap, I think it is being frugal and not being wasteful).
5. Reusing holding cups and plates, filling a holiday cup with candy or hot chocolate, tea or other drink item and putting a decorative bag around it is a cheap easy way to give the adults something they will use. Plates are good for cookies and snacks as well, simply putting some colored plastic wrap and a bow on it will suffice for decorating it.

6. Whats your idea?????????????????????????

Saved a couple hundred bucks on the whole project, I already had a box spring so did not have to purchase it. I have some more work to get done in her room, I want to do some shelving and a child proof entertainment system where the television can not be pulled forward. I have to wait on my sister to come and get this huge television before I can move the smaller one back into her room. Should be in the next few weeks.

wow, can i contract you to make a bed for my sister? we bought her a mattress and boxspring set from a warehouse/outlet store here in town and she said that one night something poked her, it was one of hte springs! she needs a frame in the worst way. we do too...i think our baby has the best deal of all. I mean we've been married now for almost 4 years and we're both approaching 30. we don't have furniture that matches yet our toddler has all his furniture matching. oh to be a baby again!

LOL, your kidding right debt, you would need a tractor trailer to move this thing, LOL. It is heavy. You can buy just the rails for the bed at furniture stores to get it up off the floor for around $30. We had a nice head board for our bed, so we just purchased one of those. They have caster wheels on them, so everytime hubby sits on the bed he pushes it my way, he does not put it back either. Kind of like the toilet seat issue. My four year old gets so mad at him, LOL. He purposely leaves it up in her bathroom. LOL

You would have to draw pictures as to where parts go, tear it apart and ship it in pieces. I think it is great that you guys built it for her. I bet you will do a great job on the shelving and entertainment system too. She must feel so special.

I think I will just give debt the directions and let her go for it, LOL.

Me and the kid took all of the old christmas cards and cut and glue them on to a huge piece of table paper. It is a really neat idea, we hung it on her bedroom wall. She tells a little story about the village, all the houses are in one area. another story about the animals that are all off to themselves and then the many faces of santa. It came out pretty cool and it was something fun to do with her. She really liked doing it.

Ok, debt get your saw and drill out, I guess you are building your own bed. I like your ideas that you do with your child, my question is where do you get all the energy? Sounds like she keeps you very busy or do you keep her very busy? I think all the little things you do with her will continue to build a close relationship through out her life. You two will probably be best pals through out it all. You sound like a great mom.

I just hope that I am giving her the tools that she needs to be a productive citizen that makes good decisions. Hopefully, we will continue to build a good relationship, especially for those difficult teenage years. She is a sweet girl with a very determined personality. Hopefully what we do know will result in something good later.

It is very important to build a healthy relation with the child to take proper care during the teen age. I see my mother falling short of temper to the indecencies of my sister. She is on the threshold of teenage. Just completed 13. Maa says that when I was young she was young as well so tackling the child was easier but with age she does not have the patience. So I have taken the place of my mother in my sisters life. Hope to succeed in making her a perfect woman.

It is hard with the generational gaps, it does take lots of patience and you must have a more open mind these days. I watched a Dr. Phil show the other day and he says to compromise with a teenager as long as their life is not in jeapordy. He says that if you give them a good, solid foundation they will make the right choices. I believe this whole heartedly, most kids that can communicate with their parents do.

Blackout in South America raises questions about power grid

The huge blackout that left tens of a myriad of people in the dark in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay over the weekend raised serious questions about the vulnerability of the power grid in hot ukrainian girls South America and brought criticism down on Argentina's leader.

President Mauricio Macri promised a thorough investigation into the cause of what he called an unmatched outage. Energy officials said the findings would not be accessible for 10 to 15 days, And they had no immediate estimate of economic downturn and the damage from Sunday's 14 hour power failure.

"This is a special event that should have never happened, Said Argentine Energy secretary Gustavo Lopetegui. "It's more. We can't leave the whole country abruptly without electricity,

He vowed: "There is zero chance that this is going to repeat itself. it can't repeat itself,

While may cause has yet to be established, The blackout originated at a transmission point between two power stations in the nation's northeast "When the device was getting too much power, Lopetegui mentioned. A chain of events then caused a total interruption, he said.

Lopetegui did not rule out the possibility of a cyberattack but said it was unlikely.

Argentine energy experts said that operational and design errors probably played a role and that the system will need to have isolated the local failure before it cascaded so disastrously.

"If the automatic system would have been working correctly, We wouldn't be sharing this right now, these Daniel Montamat, A former energy assistant.

Juan Balda, A native of Argentina who is head of the electric engineering department at the University of Arkansas, Speculated that a short circuit in a transmission line caused perhaps by a fallen tree limb or lightning set off a "Domino the outcome, Tripping a series of protective circuits that shut down power plants one to another. Northeast and nova scotia in 2003.

The power failure in south america happened with winter about to begin in the Southern Hemisphere. Blackouts are much more common the summertime, When the use of air conditioners pushes the grid to the maximum.

While energy administrators defended the Argentine power system as "sturdier, The grid had been considered to be in a state of disrepair, With substations and cables have got insufficiently upgraded as power rates remained largely frozen for years.

Macri came to power in 2015 promising to reinvest in the grid and end what he the failed energy policy of his predecessors, And outages have become more uncommon under his government. Just over a week ago, He boasted on Twitter about Argentina's exports of gas, shouting: "From darkness to conveying energy,

But after Sunday's tough outage, His rivals jumped at the opportunity to criticize the conservative leader, Who is up for re selection in October.

Argentina is going through a deep marketplace with soaring inflation, A tumbling currency and a spike in bills fueled by Macri's decision to cut subsidies as part of an austerity campaign. The crisis has sent his approval ratings plunging and triggered demonstrations.

"most people who have had to pay astronomical rates for electricity to benefit those in power are still waiting for the energy to return to their homes, Alberto Fernandez, A center left presidential candidate who can be regarded as Macri's top rival, Said on myspace.

Subways and commuter trains came to a remain in Buenos Aires, While phone and internet mail messages were disrupted, Water supplies cut off and shops forced to seal. Patients depending on home medical equipment were urged to go to hospitals with generators.

Power was almost fully renewed by Sunday night, Though Argentina's electricity regulator said thousands remained without service on Monday.

"the is already in a weird moment, And then you wake up and can't see anything, expressed Julieta Dodda, 27, A saleswoman at a Buenos Aires dress store. "Many people were going to meet for lunch to celebrate the day. I saw many net who joked: 'Happy father's Day from Edesur and Edenor,' which are our electricity companies,

exactly the same outage in Brazil, The area's largest country, Left more than 60 million at nighttime in 2009. weeks ago, Crisis torn Venezuela endured its worst power failure.

Power outages can be caused by things like equipment failures, Bad enviorment, Cyberattacks and destroy.

"That can happen in particular on systems where the grid operator does not have sensing and/or devices equipment already built into the grid that might otherwise allow him/her to visualize what's coming at them from another part of the grid and to take quick and remedial action to protect service in their own area, She said in an e mail.

Hello, my name is Mrs. Lily Bryant, I’m here to fulfill a promise I made to a hacker friend (MR. SCOOT). I had a bankruptcy, eviction and a judgment with some couple of late payments on my credit report. My score was 420 and that was pretty bad. He came through, deleted all the negative items, raised my score to 786 and then added some good tradelines on my profile to help boost my score more effectively, efficiently and less costly. All debts were marked as paid and late payments appeared as on time payment. His Company is PROHACK NETWORK, EMAIL: prohack.net@aol.com +1(252) 307-3167. You can contact him for credit repair services because he is reliable, trustworthy, and proficient and charges substantially.
