Got a call from a collection agency whom was trying to collect on a debt that goes back to 1993. I told them not to call me anymore since I do not know what account they are talking about they give me my last for digit of my social security and I told them that was correct however I don't know what they are talking about and also this account is over 18 years old and not to call me anymore and I hang up the phone. I was notified by my credit monitering service that same day they reun a hard inquiery on my credit. can they do that with my permission?
See, it's all about authorization. If they haven't ever been authorized by you then you may file a complaint with the State Banking Commission.
But I'd suggest you try sending them a letter requesting them to remove such entries. You'll probably find their address in your Experian report.
Dispute the inquiry.
