Deceptive offer (and subsequent reporting)

About three years ago, I was looking into online shopping. I found a website that looked appealing through a company called USA Credit. I put in the information and got approved. I found out a few days later that they deducted $149.95 from my bank account and a subsequent $19.95 for monthly fees. I called and cancelled the account immediately and recieved a refund.

Fastfoward to present.

I was reviewing my credit report and found that they reported to the credit agencies that I opened an account and closed it in less than two months with a zero limit, zero balance. Upon seeing this, I went to the Better Business Bureau site and researched the company to discover that they have more than 200 complaints against them for the exact same thing they did to me.

So my question is, how badly is that hurting my credit history and can I petition to get it removed, pleaing they used deceptive practices?

I am not sure I understand the negative effect. Certainly it isn't adding any positive but I am not sure that deleting this account will up your score.

Go ahead and dispute it. then 623 them

There's another effect too. The 'age of credit' also affects your scores. That's one good reason why many of us wouldn't like to cancel cards. At the same time, I'd agree that it shouldn't be a big thing.
