I need help dealing with NCO collection agency. They opened a negative account on my credit report w/ two of the agencies for an ambulance bill that stems back a couple years. I thought the bill was paid by my ins.company and hadn't heard anything about until I checked my credit last week and noticed NCO. I was never contacted by them via phone or mail in regards to this balance, thus I didn't know it existed. My credit score went from 795 to 695 and I need to get this removed. I have no problem paying the $$...
please help!
thanks,
J
Thanks for the reply..
Yes, I have all my reports.
I live in NJ, but this stems from an incident when I lived in CA
Creditor= LA Fire Dept( Ambulance Bill)
CA= NCO
I never made a payment to LA fire dept because I thought my ins company was handling it. I moved the following year and never received another bill from the LA fire dept. I guess they handed it over to NCO, but I never recieved a phone call or letter from NCO and didn't know it existed until I checked my credit report lat week. It claims NCO opned this account in Aug, 2010. I would've paid it if I heard from them, but I had no idea this debt still existed.
the date of the incident was 3-31-07. I did contact my ins company last week and was told that my deductible had not been met, thus I owed the balance. This is most likely true, but the part that ticks me off is that I never heard from NCO once the account had been handed over to them. I have moved twice since this incident and I now live in NJ, so this might have had something to do with it. I would've happily paid this off had I been notified, but now that it's on my Credit Report, I need to get it off. Should I write a "Pay to Delete" letter to NCO?
i would wait until May so the SOL will be expired.
I would still complain about the situation.
Once the SOL expires, what happens?
You should I complain too?
thanks so much for all of your insight.
