Is there good credit buidling companies out there that provide assistance to people trying to build back credit? Any non-profits doing repair work?

actually you can do it yourself. the only ones doing "repair work" are scam artists.

Orchard is a pretty high fee card.

Yes you can repair your credit yourself, but to re-establish credit Orchard is the best. The secured amount to open the card is $200, and this amount does accrue interest while card is open until closed. Also the interest rate is only 7.9%, and they report to all 3 CB/s.

The key to increasing your scores is purchase something and keep the balance at 30% of the limit, and pay on time.

If you're going to consider a credit repair program, you have to be careful about scam artists. Some of these programs can do you good if you're choosing the right amount that should be paid over a period of time. You have to determine your financial strength beforehand and then continue to make payments consistently.

The fee was 60 per year last I checked and that was a while ago.

this $200 is the security against which your credit is held. Basically you send them 200 and they deposit it in an account which by law must earn interest. the rate will be pretty low.
