Did I get a proper summons?

I received a letter from Mark D. Walsh of legal recovery law stating that they are collecting for Equable Ascent Financial. I never received anything from Equable Ascent Financial. I sent a validation letter to Walsh. I then received his response where the original debt was with Chase Bank. I made my last payment to Chase within the year. I now received a summons document in the mail showing that this summons in legal format was filed via fax to the LA Superior Court stating that I am being sued. I have 30 days to file a response. I was not personally served. Have I been served? What kind of response do I request? Will I be served by a sheriff, also?

If it is legal in your local jurisdiction then yes you have been served. I would file an answer to the court just in case and do it within the 30 days. If not they win by default and you are out the whole amount they ask for + legal. Also i would check with the clerk of the court to make sure it is real since some of the these scumbag collectors lie and send you something that looks like the real thing but is not. Also try the debtor boards. Good luck

Yes, it would be wise to reciprocate within 30 days. If you're not prompt enough the judgment could go against you and you could be liable for the entire amount. Also, I advice you not to pay a single cent till the point you're sure about the identity of such collectors.
