Hi guys,
My question is reflected at the title of the thread: Can I still send my validation letter to Collections if I missed an initial notice from them on the grounds that I was absent from the US for about 2 years??
I simply do not know if they sent me anything - I just noticed them on my credit report. If they did, then alloted 30 days have passed about 2 years ago.. Is there any law or agency that regulates such specific situations?

you are sending the DV letter as unknown debt. It happens to a lot of people.
do you have all your credit reports?
what state are you in?
what is the original creditor and the name of the CA?
what is the date of first delinquency? 30 days after last payment
this information will help me make suggestions specific to your case. The state will determine the statue of limitations for this debt. knowing the name of the OC original creditor, will help show if there is a specific govt regulators can intervene. Knowing the dates are very important.
I do have all of my reports;
I reside in MA;
The OC is BoA; I don't remember the name of the CA - I will check;
The date of the first delinquency was about 2 years ago;
The debt is within SOL. The thing is I am going to try to send DV to the CA, but what if they simply ignore me? Yes, I missed my 30 days, but I have never actually received anything from them, as I was overseas.

It is worth finding out. Send the DV letter CMRRR. Do not volunteer that you were overseas as this tolls the debt. Tell them that you were not aware of this debt until you saw it on your credit report. State that you have not received a phone call or letter.
is the address on your reports current? update this.
do you know anything about this debt? is it yours? how much? Is it possible that this was created by bank error?
