I made a payment to a collection agency that bought my account from Chase. Now that I am repairing my credit, I am trying to get it removed off of my credit report. Is it possible to send a debt verification letter to the collection agency to prove that I owe the debt in hopes that they cant verify it or is it too late. I am hoping to get it removed from my credit report. I do not care about getting the money back that I paid. I just want to know if it is too late. Thanks guys

do you have all your credit reports?
what state are you in?
what is the original creditor and the name of the CA?
what is the date of first delinquency? 30 days after last payment
this information will help me make suggestions specific to your case. The state will determine the statue of limitations for this debt. knowing the name of the OC original creditor, will help show if there is a specific govt regulators can intervene. Knowing the dates are very important.
I have the same issue. Can I jump in?
I'm in Illinois but my collection is from Nevada.
The OC is Sierra Pacific Power Company
and the CA is Business and Professionals
I actually do not know the first date of deliqunecy but is says first opened on 4/6/2009. Amount is 104
I also have another one from the same CA and the OC is Reno Family Physicians 1/21/2009. Amount is 174
I called the CA and made a payment of 139. for both collections. Now I really don't think the electric bill is mine and the medical bill is because of my insurance (they should have paid it.) They applied the 104 to the electric bill and 30 to the medical bill.
Should I still send a DV? Especially for the electric bill but they posted my payment to it and I already asked if they could transfer it to my medical bill and they said no because it's already posted to my credit report. Thanks for any help or advice I'd really appreciate it!
Yes I have all my credit reports. The creditor is Macys. I settled with $302 in may 2010. The full balance was $550. The first date of deliquency was aug 2007
