I had credit that was incurred in TX and the SOL ran out in 09 for it, but unknowing to anyone there we left the country. We came back to CAlifornia and are now getting a CA asking for $$.
We sent out a validation request and they only stated the original debt owner and the account number we had with them. They then asked for me to supply them with documentation to prove the debt is either
paid in full
fraud
balance discrepancy
death of consumer owing debt

I think that it is up to them to prove the debt not me right?
I do not want to bring up SOL yet as that may be admitting I owe the debt.
I didn't get their validation within 30 days of sending out the request either, it got sent to me about 25 days later.

Any advice?
Sorry for the long story.

do you have all your credit reports?
what state are you in? CA debt in TX
what is the original creditor and the name of the CA?
what is the date of first delinquency? 30 days after last payment

when did you leave the country? this would toll the SOL but it is ok to let them prove that.

So they can still ask for their money , they just can't sue you.

is this on your credit report? I would send a letter that says all contact is inconvenient.
