A friend of mine is applying for a job (not involving handling money or financial responsibility). The employer credit check that she authorized will turn up debts written off in 1999, when she declared bankruptcy, and more recent credit-card defaults, including at least one judgment against her.
She's thinking she should email Human Resources and give brief explanations in advance, so they aren't unpleasantly surprised and they have her side of it. Is this advisable? If so, should she mention that she's contemplating another bankruptcy filing, or omit that?
Credit check by employer
Hi JimLane,
Welcome to this community :)
I am afraid I won't know if your friend should talk to or email the Human Resources department about her credit issues. It is better to try and clean up the credit report.
Thanks,
Aaron
