Removing a 30 day late

Hello,

I would like to know how to get rid of a particular 30 day late.

Due to some problem with the online payment system there was a missed payment on a card and I have a 30 day late on my report now because of it. This is the only blemish on my credit report in about 6 years, ans so it took my score from the 700's down to the high 500's.

I am mortified that my credit is destroyed for just $15 dollars. How should I approach this? Should I try faxing them a plea for removal? Should I mail them a goodwill letter? Or should I just try disputing it in the bureau? And if I do dispute it in the bureau, should I close it first? Also, I really don't care about it getting totally wiped off my report because the limit is so low, and the card is only 3 years old.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Yes Peter Cook,

You can try removing the negative from your credit report by sending a Goodwill Letter. Goodwill letter is when you request the creditor or collection agency to remove the negative on the basis of your goodwill. If the creditor does not agree to this, you can try disputing this with the bureaus.

I don't think you should close down this account.

Thanks,

Aaron

this sounds like a 623 situation.. I would write a letter asking them to investigate the payment problem. Definitely include the horrible effect this has had on your previously good credit. be polite but make sure you ask them to investigate. if they don't agree, you will ask a bank regulating agency to investigate. in my experience this will get the late deleted. I have done this several times. Make sure you send these letters CMRRR
