Cant decide whether to keep the card active

Hi all,

I am planning to close one of my accounts once the dispute on this account is settled. However this very bank sent me a platinum signature card and I'm wondering what to do with it - to keep it active or close it.

I didn't physically activate the card till now, so can a crook use it in any way? Another consideration is that if I don't activate the card within a certain time frame, will it trigger a fraud alert or freeze? I heard Discover reissues another card if there's no activity for 2 months.

What should I do?

Hi Indee,

Yes, banks do close down an account after a period of inactivity. This time period varies from bank to bank. However, in your case I think you can talk to the bank about the problems you are facing. In addition ask them if this account can be closed down.

Thanks,

Aaron
