Free and clear update to credit report

Hello,

I've already exhausted the one opportunity I had to check my free credit report for the year on annualcreditreport.com but the report only reflected one of the bureaus information. How would I go about updating all information under all three bureaus records:

A. For free
B. With the best and most accurate information

I have a three bills that went into collections that I've already paid off. And, as far as I read on this site, they'll stay there for 7 years unless I'm reading that incorrectly. But, for now I just want every thing up to date so if any other companies inquire, I can at least have some stability.

Thanks

Hi Guest,

You have already exhausted the opportunity to get a free copy of your reports. However, www.annualcreditreport.com provides a combined report of both Equifax and TransUnion. Experian has stooped giving out their reports to consumers. Thus, in your case your creditors may not be reporting to that bureau with whom you have not received any report. I think you need to inquire about this with your creditors.

All creditors do not report to all the three credit bureaus.

And, as far as I read on this site, they'll stay there for 7 years unless I'm reading that incorrectly.

Yes, this is true that the negatives will stay on your credit report for 7 years. You could have requested the collection agencies (CA) to agree to a "Pay for delete" agreement (PFD) in order to remove the negatives before paying off these debts. However, not all CAs agree to PFD.

You can still try to remove the negatives by sending Goodwill letters to the CAs. It is a request to remove the negatives on the basis of your goodwill. If this too does not work, and if the account statuses are showing "Paid", then let it stay that way. New creditors will atleast get to see that you have paid off the debts. Also, the negative impact of these listings will lessen with time.

Thanks,

Aaron
