My credit was ruined by a family member. I was 13 when it started. I paid off all debts and have everything on my credit report as paid. I did this roughly 5 years ago. However, I still do not qualify for loans, credit cards, and even a couple of apartment buildings would not accept me. . How can I build credit, if no one is giving me the chance to do so?

Hi catlover_kbabydoll,

Welcome to this community :)

Please provide more details on your credit. Even if your credit report is showing the accounts as "Paid", as far as I understand from your query, you may not have done the PFDs. Thus, the negatives must still be showing. However, negatives can be reported for 7 years.

Can I know your credit score? If you are not getting new credit cards, and loans try to get a secured credit card. A secured credit card can easily be obtained with low score. Get the card from one such company which reports to all the three credit bureaus.

Use the card to make small purchases, and then make ontime payments on the card. This will help you in improving your credit score.

Thanks,

Aaron
