Contact info of Credit Collection Services:CCS collections

CCS collections is listed in my credit report against an outstanding debt.

How can I be sure that I owe the debt?
Can I get this item removed from my credit report if I pay off the amount in full?
Will my credit score improve if I pay it off and close the account?

I would be grateful if anybody can provide me with their contact details and phone number.

Thanks

i was in a car accident and i am fault now the company that insured the other owner is allstate it hasnt even been a month. allstate did not attempt to contact me themselves to show estimates to me. they got one estimate and fixed his car and never informed me of anything. they just sent it to the credit collection services who contacted me saying the cost to fix the car was 1100 dollars. they credit collection services says they are not a debt collector and refuse to give me the number to the insurance company i need to figure out if by law i am entitled to more than one estimate if the insurance company should of contacted me before sending it to this company?

O, I must agree they are definitely scum. I believe they were all mistreated as young children and decided to choose a career where they could bully others in such a way that would hide them which in this case is behind the phone. Would we call them telephone gangsters? lol. I spoke to a male firstly, O how understanding he was then to a supervisor "female" which was complete t r a s h. More than likely mistreated as a child as well or really really ugly. Psh

I have been getting phone calls for about 2 years now from these people and they claim I owe them money. When they called me the address they had on file I only lived at for a period of one month and I only visited the doctor once during that time period, and the doctor's office says I owe nothing. They sent me a statement in the mail and it is insisting that I still owe them money. However I know that I never had any medical tests done on that date. On top of this, they don't even have my name correct on the bill. I think is a SCAM and I don't plan on paying.

I ALWAYS get far better (and faster) results when I make Federal Telephone Harassment Complaints.

According to the Supreme court; once 'notified' that you do not wish to be called, a single phone call CAN be considered harassment.
Debt or No debt they got no right to HARASS PEOPLE!

I had an outstanding debt listed on my credit with Progressive Insurance. I have contacted progressive and CCS who claimed it on my credit report.

I had insurance with GIECO at the time period Progressive is claiming. I have sent in the documentation several times to no avail.

I went ahead and paid it to progressive directly, yet CCS has it listed on my credit. It was agreed when it was paid that it would be removed. That has not happened to this date. They did update it as paid in full, however with the recent update to my credit report it tanked my score 50 pts.

I did less damage being not paid. How do I get CCS who did not collect the funds to remove this from my credit report? Who is the right person to contact?

My husband recieved a call from CCS on Wednesday morning, he was not home. I was asked where he was at 8:15 in the morning if he did not have a job. This person began getting rude with me and talking to me about an account that does not list my name or SSN. He told me since they could not get in touch with my husband they were going to sue me for the price of some credit card he has not done anything with from 8 years ago. Is that possible for them to sue me over something that does not list me at all?

I sent accidentally a payment meant for credit card to C.C.S and they had the audacity to cashed it, how do I go about getting the money back?

Sat, 10/17/2009 - 01:20 Permalink

Jane, Hello and welcome to the forum. You could call and inform C.C.S. of this error and explain that this money was meant for paying a credit card debt. You may not get it back if they are not willling to send it to you. What they may do is credit it towards your account. Is your payment current to CCS? If so they may be willling but if not they will ten definatly credit to your account. I would just try calling. You won't know until you do. Good Luck

You may be able to put a stop payment on the check, call your bank immediately and go in and sign a stop payment. They will do it if you do it with in a certain timeframe.

Sat, 10/17/2009 - 23:49 Permalink

Yes this is a good option but just remember it does cost a small amount to place a s top payment on a check. The last time I checked it was like $29. So depending on the amount of the payment you sen to the wrong place it may or may not even be worth your while.

Sun, 10/18/2009 - 23:56 Permalink

I have had to do that and my bank has been very cooperative when I did do it. You can give it a shot. You will have to go to the bank and fill out forms.

Mon, 10/19/2009 - 01:44 Permalink

Some banks will work with you but I have not seen a lot waive the fee. They act like it is a must. I changed internet companies recently and my old one was set up to automatically debit every month. I called to see what I had to do to be sure they would not continue to pull the money out and the bank said my best option was to call the company and request that they no longer bill or if the bank had to do if there would be a fee.

OF COURSE THEY HAVE A FAX MACHINE BUT DO YOU THINK IT WOULD HELP ANYONE IF THOUSANDS OF DOCS WERE FLOODED INTO IT EVERY MOMENT . OR IF IT WAS NOT LEGIBLE BECAUSE OF INK ? USE YOUR MINDS - CHANCES OF YOUR DOCS GETTING TO WHERE THEY NEED TO GO ARE BETTER IF YOU SEND TO THE DOCUMENTED DISPUTE ADDRESS - WHICH I WOULD IMAGE IS WHY THEY HAVE MULTIPLE PO BOXES IN MA. MAYBE EACH PO BOX IS FOR A SPECIFIC TYPE OF DISPUTE OR DEPARTMENT - ALSO TRY CANCELING YOUR INSURANCE POLICIES THE CORRECT WAY - MOST INSURANCE COMPANIES SEND OUT DOCS WITH FINE PRINT STATING TO CANCEL IN WRITING IF YOU WANT THEM TO CANCEL YOU AT A SPECIFIC TIME.........AS FAR AS IT GOES JANE WITH THE ACCIDENT TRY DRIVING WITH INSURANCE - THEN YOU WONT HAVE TO LEARN THE HARD WAY - AND INSURANCE CLAIMS HAVE A STATUTE DATE THEY CAN TAKE YEARS TO CLOSE - SO THE INSURANCE COMPANY CANT BILL YOU UNTIL THEY KNOW THE AMOUNT- AND ONE REASON IT TAKES SO LONG IS BECAUSE THE INSURANCE COMPANY PROBABLY DOESN'T WANT TO PAY IN THE 1ST PLACE SO THEY ARE MOST LIKELY TRYING TO FIND A WAY AROUND IT BEFORE THEY CUT THE CHECK

Hello dirty, I am trying to figure out what tone you are exactly trying to use here. I hope it is a pleasant one. You are right about places having multiple numbers but that alone at times can be difficult for the consumer to get the right one. I think that when a company has a lot of numbers they should all be interlinked or there needs to be a system set in place where if you are calling for a payment press one..then they give you the number to call. Sure would make a persons world a lot easier.

well as an employee of ccs i wanted to let you know the diff po box numbers are for different departments within the company. second of all i myself know that this is a legit company because i do recieve the paycheck every 2 weeks . the amount placed in collections is the amount that our clients place in collections for we do not add interest or buy the debt. the reason why the amount for progressive had change dis maybe because they gave you an adjustment we ask for the info to help dispute your debt and yes we do need to follow up with our client to check billing records to see if you deserve an adjusment. and as far as getting our employees to admit we just work here unlikely. we do not have an office in mass or out of the country. mass,nh,and maine thats it..any questions?

You can file a dispute on the debt if you believe that it is not yours, seems odd that it would not be there for so long and then just show up.

I would file a dispute first and see if they will remove it, and if they don't then contact progressive and see why they waited so long to report it.

Sat, 12/26/2009 - 00:26 Permalink

I had Progressive insurance before and hated them. They do not like to keep good records. My hubby has nearly the same name as his father and they had Progressive at the same time. Thing is we paid for our coverage and they always let theirs lapse. I switched after repeatedly having my payment credited to their account. I wouls call and they would swear to clear it upthat day and sometimes it took longer. Once they kept this up we went elsewhere. Dispute it and never consider Progressive.

All that you have described is totally uncalled for and it is against the law. Many of these companies hire low life thugs to work for minimum wage because they can not get anything else.

You need to educate your self on what the collection laws are so you can let them know the next time that you are not tolerating their abuse.

With the slowing of the real estate market, attorneys are moving more into the area of debt collection
. Sometimes, larger debt purchasers-- such as CCS (USA) Inc.-- will farm out such debts to attorneys of various states for collection. Their motis operandi is to use the courts of each state to sue potential debtors and acquire defaults. However, CCS (USA) Inc. a/k/s Credit Control Services, Inc. a/k/a Credit Collection Services has been successfully sued under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. See, United States District Court, D. Massachusetts. Pierre MARTIN and Kevin L. Nelson, on behalf of themselves and all others similarly situated, Plaintiffs,v.Gerald SANDS; Credit Control Services, Inc., d/b/a/ Credit Collection Services; Daniel W. Goldstone; and Goldstone & Sudalter, P.C., Defendants. No. 98-10281-JLT.July 29, 1999.

In that case, CCS (USA) Inc. send out letters to alleged debtors stating that a certain law office was working on their case, when in fact, an existing backlog of cases showed that the law office was not working on a particular case. It was in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Now it seems, they have allegedly dispensed with collection letters indicating that attorneys are working on a case (when they were not), and now directly farm out to attorneys in some way, shape or form. Attorneys then allegedly associate the "original" creditor name with a legal action, rather than make any mention of the CCS connection. This shields the Delaware corporation from suit, while allowing the Delaware corporation to "USE" the state courts of this country to their advantage against what they refer to as a "TARGET." This "TARGET" is the consumer.

I received a letter from credit collection services stating that adverse credit reporting information is scheduled to be reported to a credit bureau. It further states, to avoid credit reporting your immediate attention is required and then it say remit payment in full in the envelope provided OR visit our website and establish payment arrangements with this office. Well I visited their website established payment arrangements and made all my payments on time. They still put me in the credit bureau as a collections account. I called them I read them back the letter they sent me and they told me it did not matter they have the option of putting me in the credit bureau if they wanted after I had already done what they asked for. I also contacted progressive insurance to see if they could help me get this off of my report but they just wanted me to get insurance with them again. So now Im screwed cuz I watch my credit and this really dropped me. My fault in the first place for missing a payment, but when I tried to resolve it with ccs and payed them under the assumption that it would not go on my credit report they turn around and screwed me. If you look on the MA better business bureau sight they have the most complaints (276) out of any other collection company their size

They called my parents' house for a lob bill that I owe in the amount of $45.00. I called them, told them I'd send a money order and the guy on the other end of the line at CCS tells me to get a moneygram, and have it wire transferred. i went to Wal-Mart to ge the money order only to learn that a domestic money transfer costs $11.00. I just got a regualr money order and will pay through the mail.

We got our refund last month and my husband said we already paid that one off. Anyone else already paid a debt and had them saying it's still unpaid?

Sat, 03/27/2010 - 15:45 Permalink

Yes that has happened to me, I have always had the reciepts to cover my butt on it and will always ask for a paid in full from the company. You can also write paid in full in the memo of the money gram or some statement to that affect.

I too had this happen but it was through a tax bureau. I got a letter stating I did not pay a certain years personal tax and went ahead and paid it plus the huge penalty thinking I could have very well missed paying it. Two weeks later I got another one for the following year. Knowing there was no possible way I missed to consecutive years I went to my tax collector. The one I already paid was paid by me on time. The new one that came in was not, I missed that one. They would not apply the money I had already sent to the following year and was not required to refund it. I ended up having to pay for both years.

If you don't pay your debt, the delinquencies are being listed on your credit report. This can stay on your report for 7 years, and hurt your credit.

To I pay my bills~~ I didn't buy it
Comcast claimed they did not suspend my service when asked ( we leave for the Winter) they admitted it but had sent the bill for a box that was shut off to CCS
I have taken up many many many hours too resolve the issue and now Comcast and CCS are going to Small claims.
CCS lies and breaks Ma Law.
It's not about the money I have it.
I am sick of the harrassment and suggestions that I just pay for something I don't owe.
So you're right "if you can't pay for it don't buy it"
but don't pay if you don't owe.

Sat, 05/22/2010 - 15:36 Permalink

Hi Karen,

If you are unsure about the debt, you can send debt validation letter to the collection agency. This will also stop them from filing a lawsuit against you. You can use the sample debt validation letter available with this site to write one of your own. Send the letter through certified mail, requesting a return receipt.

Thanks,

Aaron

In August of 2005, I was 17 years old and involved in a "fender bender" with another driver. I was at fault but I did not have insurance. I've been paying the insurance company since November of 2007. Recently, I missed a payment and called in and now they are demanding I pay 10% or they can't establish another payment plan and my license may be suspended. I'm almost 22 now and very scared. I don't have the money and I need my car to drive to work.

As far as the accident went, I owed $8,548.51. I've been able to bring it down to $7,000 but it is such a burden. I can't even recall if I ever received ANY proof as far as injuries went, and as far as I know the damage to her car was not that bad. How do I find all this out? I've seen a lot of negative information about CCS (Credit Collection Services) online and I'm worried. How can I get all of this information to make sure I wasn't screwed over??

I know it was a bad mistake and I regret it. My parents did what they could but I was young and unable to pursue things myself. I'd just like to know that, if after a few years, I can still do anything about this??

Quick note - I live in California. Any advice would help. I'd just like to validate this claim and see WHY it is so expensive, because I'm not so sure we ever really did.

Tue, 06/01/2010 - 22:57 Permalink

Hi Kira,

I really feel bad for what you are going through. However, you won't be able to validate this debt, as this has still not been handed over to a collection agency. It is still with the insurance company (considered to be the original creditor to whom you owe). You can try debt validation with original creditor.

As for the payments, you can first make a copy of your monthly income and expenditure. Write a hardship letter to the insurance company, and attach a copy of the monthly income and expenditure.

As for the information, weren't you taken to court because of this accident? The judgment itself is supposed to provide you with all the informations on the debt.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron

Oops. I forgot to mention that it is being handled by CCS, not the insurance company (Farmers). It has always been CCS that has handled it (since the first payment in 2007) but from what I've been reading I would have had to have the debt validated within 30 days of the initial notice or they don't have to respond to it.

And no, I was never taken to court. I'm not sure why. I never even really received much documentation from anyone other than a notification letter from CCS that I owed 8 grand, and because I didn't have insurance I figured I was at fault regardless and started making payments.

Wed, 06/02/2010 - 17:58 Permalink

Hi,

Then you should have sent them a debt validation letter then. Under the rules of FDCPA, the collection agency is supposed to answer to the debtors debt validation. However the original creditor is not supposed to validate the debt. FDCPA does not mention that the collection agency is supposed to send the answer to your validation request within 30 days. However, the debtor is supposed to send the debt validation letter within 30 days of the first attempt of collection.

Thanks,

Aaron
