The judge ruled in the favor of the Plaintiff but no judgment to pay has been issued. She advised that the garnishment could be property, bank accounts or wages. I'm currently unemployed. I'm listed on someone else's bank account for emergencies, so i personally don't have a bank account. However, I am leasing a vehicle (is this considered property because I do not own it). I am also a student and we receive school refunds thru an outside bank account. Can they garnish wages on this account?
Will I know how much will be garnished before they start making me pay on this debt?
Unfortunately any bank account that might have your name on it could be fair game when the court gets involved. You honestly may was to consider having it removed if it honestly belongs to someone else entirely.
You should receive a letter from the courthouse stating details on the garnishment if there will be any.
I don't believe a leased vehicle will count as personal property or any vehicle that isn't owned outright for that matter.

As far as understand a leased car cannot be considered as personal property. As for the bank account, you need to remove your name from that account, else the other person on whose account your name is listed will get harassed too.
