On my free credit report I have an item that say Date placed for collection : 03/2005 and below it says, Estimated date item can be removed:10/2009
This and many other dates have past why are they still there? Should I write the company a letter of Statue of Limitation being that the remove date has past ? And also all of these debt are less than $400 is that why it states to be removed so soon ?
DOFD is date of first delinquency. this is the date that starts the 7 year reporting clock. Collection Agencies buy your debt after this and in this case about 3 years after DOFD. the amount of debt has nothing to do with SOL or reporting time. It does dictate how much effort they will put into collecting it.
Dispute this tradeline as obsolete.
Hello Blue, If you look on your report somewhere the original creditor should be listed. Look for two account numbers that are the same (they are not always). Usually the original creditor will report for the full seven years. It should list when the account fell into deliquency. If these dates are past though I would just dispute them as obsolete with all three credit reporting bureaus and be done with it.
Obsolete debts
Hi blue,
What you need to do is write to all of the 3 credit bureaus one by one, disputing the items as obsolete. This has nothing to do with SOL.
if the CRA said it would be removed in 2009 then it will come off
