Settlement gone Bad

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me with what to do next? I recently spoke with and received a settlement letter via email from the Northland Group where I settled a CitiCard account for 25% ($1330) of the balance. I kept the settlement letter and sent a certified check via certified mail with return receipt. Today I noticed there was an update to my credit report and there was no indication of a settlement but instead a $1330 deduction from the overall balance of this Citi account. Is there anything I can do to have it indicated as a settlement like I thought it was going to be? Should I contact the credit agencies or the Northland Group here? Letters or calls? These collection agencies are the worst. Thanks for any help. Heather

Contact Northland immediately. YOu should also contact your attorney general

Hi gobucks,

You should contact Northland Group immediately and ask them to correct this mistake. If they don't comply contact the credit bureaus and explain to them the situation. Be prepared with all the receipts and settlement letter. You should also get in talks with a lawyer.

Thanks.

Thank you all. I will send a certified letter to Northland tomorrow requesting my credit report be fixed immediately. If that fails, I'll look into the attorney general and lawyers aspects. This stuff sure gets frustrating. Thanks again
