hello. i have just been on ssi last year, and was switched to ssdi. i only make 650/month minus the 98 for medicare, cuz i live at my parents' house, they call shared living. now, so that is 552 a month i get now. now that i get ssdi, should i b recieving extra money for my son that lives with me? i do not ask anything of my parents for any help. i barely make it through each month. most of the time, i'm broke 1/2 way. i do not do anything for myself. i however babysit my niece and nephew while my mother works, and step father sleeps. the mother is deemed an unfit parent by the state. i have bills i pay as well. keepin my truck runnin, and it still need repairs. so, that is why i ask the question. any help is appreciated

SSDI pays you based on the average of your lifetime earnings. You are entitled to receive disability benefits, retirement benefits as well as survivors benefits. Your annual statement also reveals the total benefits that you receive for each of them. I am afraid falknferno, you cannot get any extra money from SSDI for your son.
Are you on permanent disability? If not then SSDI allows you to work to earn extra while you are on SSDI benefits. Go to their site and find out under what conditions you can go to work and earn some extra money. Visit them at http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10029.html#part11
