I have two old collection accounts on my credit report. The first account has a balance of $2,000 and is from a credit card. This item will be removed from my report in September of 2010. The second account is from a cellular phone bill. The balance is $340 and this item will be removed from my credit report in January of 2011. I am considering paying off these two accounts because I am interviewing for work and my credit report might be reviewed by potential employers. I would like to get these two items removed from my credit report. Am I better off paying the debts now or waiting another year for the sol?

Thank you for responding to my questions. I will start with the dispute and the DV. One last question: Is there a downside to starting this process at this point in time? Both of the collection accounts are scheduled to drop off of my credit report within the next twelve months.
dispute then DV
don't do both at the same time. I would bet money that one of them will fall off.
