I received summons two days ago...I am confused if I should file a response to the court or send a settlement offer letter to the CA.
Should I send a settlement letter to the CA ASAP? will this stop the lawsuit? It took them forever to response to my DV request letter. I am just worried that my settlement letter won't be responded before my summons reponse due date.
I want to pay this debt but i want to settle it with lower amount.
Right now they are suing for about 4000 and I want to settle it for $2000 or $3000. Is it too late? Will the CA willingly accept my offer?
(CA= WINN LAW GROUP)
I need to answer my summons but is there a form that I can get online or do I just type it up. (I am in California).
I am so lost. I don't know if I should call them. If I call them and offer a settlement then that means I am admitting to this debt and it can be brought against me in the court.
HELP!!
Hi lala11
You should never ignore summons. Go to the clerk's office and there will be a form that you need to fill out. It is simple. Ask the court to give you a chance to defend yourself, which they will of course. You may also mention that you are willing to settle the debt with the creditor and would like to do it out of court. In the mean time you can take help from an attorney and seek advice.
